A Complicated Courtship

An earlier friendship began when Ron and Margaret were part of the network of young Methodists from across Sydney who met through Christian camps in the 1950s. When Margaret left Australia to serve in Papua New Guinea in 1961, Ron very intentionally started to write regular letters, with the hope of maintaining that friendship. After a slow start, the exchange of letters became more regular and frequent. A ‘friend’ became a close friend, then a ‘best friend’. This little book follows the development of that relationship through the medium of their letters, against the very different backgrounds of a theological student in Sydney and a person working in the mountains of Papua New Guinea among people having their first contacts with the rest of the world.
